Oaths (Aqsam) : Allah (awj) swears by things in the quran.
- Allah (swt) swears by something that is sacred. Eg. sun, moon, morning, night
- When an oath is taken it is a powerful means for introducing a topic that is coming in the rest of the surah. Eg. surah Qiyamah.
- One function of oath is to make audience believe when they dont believe what you are going to say. it is a means of giving testimony.
- Other function of oath is an expression of anger. It is an illlustration of anger
- Allah (swt) swears to give it importance to and to make those words (what is being presented coming forward ) to be taken seriously
