Surah An Naziat

Surah Naziat is a Makki surah just like the surah before (Surah Naba)
Oaths (Aqsam) : Allah (awj) swears by things in the quran.
  1. Allah (swt) swears by something that is sacred. Eg. sun, moon, morning,night
  2. When an oath is taken it is a powerful means for introducing a topic that is coming in the rest of the surah. Eg. surah Qiyamah.
  3. One function of oath is to make audience believe when they dont believe what you are going to say. it is a means of giving testimony.
  4. Other function of oath is an expression of anger. It is an illlustration of anger
  5. Allah (swt) swears to give it importance to and to make those words (what is being presented coming forward ) to be taken seriously
========== Oaths =========
  • 1. "Allah swears by An-naziat (some objects) which dive deep in, yanks whatevers deep inside and pulls out. "
    naziati- three opinions regarding what an-naziat(or these things) refers to are - Angels, stars, winds
    garka- means having dive in, act of pulling out without using the same route.
    An-naziat is the feminine plural (criticism against opinion of angels) and in quran, consistently, masculine is used for angels
    According to a hadith, soul is taken out from toe.
    Makkan quran is talking to people who dont believe. the vast majority of the people are the people who dont believe.
    The first thing that doesnt come to the mind of mushrikeen is - angels.
    The mushrik thinks about the rain going into the earth and the plant coming out of there.
    Believer thinks about we will also go into the earth and we will be coming out of the earth.
    {angels : angels diving deep inside the body, pulling and ripping it out and want to stay inside the body ... this is the soul of kafir.
    winds: hurricane or tornadoe winds, that yank trees out of their roots or buildings out of their foundation like its digging/plucking them out. }
  • 2. nasht- refers to undoing a knot without making any effort
    Also, when you have a loose knot tied to an animal and it wriggles out, kinda undoes itself without any effort.... nashata is used
    { angels: seemlessly enter the body and take out a soul.. smoothly without force
    winds: smooth breeze as means of comfort and peace or winds as means of destruction}
  • 3. sabh litereallly means swim quickly, swim rapid smooth way
    { angels: swim into the body seemlessly, looking for the soul and their gonna pull it out
    winds: clouds that are floating in the air by means of winds that are pushing.}
  • 4. sabq is in reference to race, when one thing is taking a lead over the other. {angels : racing back , taking the souls back for their judgement.
    winds: some clouds moving faster than the other, some taking the lead over the other. }
  • 5. tadbeer = includes meaning of planning, organization, executing a matter... thorough planning, thorough execution
    = means taking a step back before you take an action. because it comes from the word dubr which means the back of something. turn back from an affair, think it through and come back to execute.
    amra= means command of allah
    { angels : angels are assigned different tasks by allah(awj) and they do a deligent oraganised job of execution of those commands.
    winds/clouds: winds distribute clouds in every direction, and distribute dust, pollen, rain ... exuted plan of Allah(swt)}
========== day of resurrection =========
  • 6. rajaf= has to do with rattling or shaking
    = means that which is meant to rattle will rattle.
    = depicts the state of the one affected by the highly uncomfortable motion
  • 7. "it will by followed by ar-radifah"
    radaf = means situated behind and moving along with.
    (second trumpet when we will be raised for resurrection)
  • 8. "some hearts on that day will experience wajifah"
    wajifah= means fear mixed with discomfort. petrified, terrified, scared
    "some hearts on that day will be beating out of their chest"
    terror wont subside
  • 9. "the vision of their hearts ,i.e, their eyes connected to these hearts, that are petrified will be overwhelmed by the fear (humbled)."
    this is reaction to the events of the day of judgement. 
  • 10. "is it really the case that we are going to be returned to the original state"
    rad= means rejected and sent back
    hifr= means ditch in the ground that you dig
    imagory in classical language
  • 11. naqir = means bones empty on the inside from decay, all that is left is a shell, air passes through it, and produces smelly experience
  • 12. "if this ever does happen then the return full of loss"
    karra= return, attack against us
  • 13. zajra = means yell loud and offensively
    Allah awj will basically scold them and that scolding will be enough. thats all its gonna take. 
  • 14. "then as a consequence, they are going to be at this place- sahirah"
    sahr= means sleep disappeared ( loosing one's sleep)and it was used with reference to an open feild.
    = refers to a mirage, sleep disappeared because you see water in desert (mirage)
    = this is feild which is pale, flat, crusty, white
    = feild where all mankind will be gathered for resurrection
    = loosing sleep coming out of grave because theirs no more escape once day of judgement comes. no escape from pleasures or torchers. 
*(the closest thing to the unseen in the seen world is the winds. Allah illustrates
his power of destruction and his mercy by means of winds.)

  • 15. "Didnt the news of Musa already come to you"
    Hadeeth = is used for something that is manifest and used for something that is so old and it is forgotten and when you are reminded about it sounds as if it was all togethor new. 
  • 16. "when His lord called onto him in the valley of tuwa"
    nadah= means to call someone loudly and forcefully
    muqaddas= specified for declaring the profession of allah, a place that is specially designed to exalt allah , a holy place,
  • 17."go to firaun, no doubt that he has engaged in act of rebellion"
    tugyan= if for example you have a pot and fill water in it and but you put too much in it and it starts spilling up, used for ocean boiling over
  • 18. "then say to him, do you have any inclination inside you at all that you want to cleanse yourself of the filth that you are infested with."
    tazkiya = means purification
