Juz Amma 102

Surah At-Takathur


 بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
1. أَلْهَاكُمُ التَّكَاثُرُ
“At-takathur deluded you”
-- > The desire of get a lot distracted you
-- > This attitude of competition, it keeps you busy
-- > urge to tell people
-- > common urge to want more and more and more, it deluded you/ it distracted you
أَلْهَاكُمُ : la-ha-wow- root words: entertainment, that which keeps you busy and takes you away from something you are actually supposed to be doing, to be distracted/ pulled away from something
التَّكَاثُرُ : kathra: plenty; the desire of having a lot, competing a getting a lot, taking pride in having more, cooperation among each other
-- > distracted from what? Truth (Quran, Sunnah), from looking within yourself, this message- this Quran, Al- Qariyah- the knocking noise (the day of judgement, the scales), love for this world, money and children, more for your children,
-- > Is this what kept you busy?
-- > it deluded you from obedience from Allah

2. حَتَّىٰ زُرْتُمُ الْمَقَابِرَ
“Until you met with/ you came to greet with the grave”
زُرْتُمُ : to hug someone; temporary- we are not going to be in grave forever
الْمَقَابِرَ : place- graveyard
-- > until death came to you, you kept competing in plentiness
-- > you even used to go to the grave, to show off against each other

3.  كَلَّا سَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ
“NO. not at all, very very soon you will find out”
كَلَّا : for sure, no way, not at all
-- > grave

4. ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ
“Again, ”
-- > come out of the grave, judgement
-- > repetition- more serious warning, urgency

5. كَلَّا لَوْ تَعْلَمُونَ عِلْمَ الْيَقِينِ
“NO. Not at all, if you only knew, if you only had knowledge of certainty- revelation”
عِلْمَ الْيَقِينِ : higher form of knowledge, solid conviction
الْيَقِينِ : deep inside you are satisfied, absolute reality
عَيْنَ الْيَقِينِ : conviction based on knowledge and what you see with your own eyes
Haqq-ul-yaqeen:  when you felt it
-- > death
-- > Had you only had knowledge of certainty, had you just stopped to think about your deeds that you're doing in presence of your master

6.  لَتَرَوُنَّ الْجَحِيمَ
“For sure you will definitely, definitely, definitely  see Al-jaheem”
الْجَحِيمَ : Juhm: the stare of a lion before it gets to eat you

7.  ثُمَّ لَتَرَوُنَّهَا عَيْنَ الْيَقِينِ
“Then at that time, moreover, when you see it at that time, it will be the eye of conviction”

8.  ثُمَّ لَتُسْأَلُنَّ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَنِ النَّعِيمِ
“then you will be asked on that day, interrogated thoroughly, in regards to blessings”
you are definitely, definitely, definitely, definitely going to be interrogated
النَّعِيمِ : someone who lives a life of luxury
