بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

1. لَا أُقْسِمُ بِهَٰذَا الْبَلَدِ

1. لَا أُقْسِمُ بِهَٰذَا الْبَلَدِ
NO. I swear by this city (sacred city of Makkah –
tranquillity, calmness)
-- > NO : way to silence them (all the negative things being said)
negating all other ideas
Oaths: (a) honour to the city
(b) people’s attention is being grabbed
2. وَأَنْتَ حِلٌّ بِهَٰذَا الْبَلَدِ

2. وَأَنْتَ حِلٌّ بِهَٰذَا الْبَلَدِ
“And you (messenger of Allah.s) are “Hil” in this city”
حِلٌّ :
1. You have become permissible in this city (they considered it halal to try and kill you)
2. Something will be made permissible especially for you.s that has never been made permissible before you. {One day of Conquest of Makkah – kill the war criminals, execute these kuffar}
3. You are to remain in this city
4. Messenger has descended upon this city after having received revelation
3. وَوَالِدٍ وَمَا وَلَدَ
“And I also swear by the Father and what he gave birth to {what an amazing son he had} ”
Father: Adam.a and all of the children
(or) Ibrahim.a and Ismail.a and through his lineage Rashulallah.s
4. لَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا الْإِنْسَانَ فِي كَبَدٍ
{Jawab-ul-qasam/ Response of the oath}
“No doubt, actually as a matter of fact, we have already created the human being in ‘kabad’ ”
كَبَدٍ : endless, exhausting, laboursome struggle
Each and every human being is created in intense struggle
كَبَدٍ : middle of the day/ sand dune; liver; toughness, intensity, struggle
insaan: (some mufassiroon) Abul Asht
5. أَيَحْسَبُ أَنْ لَنْ يَقْدِرَ عَلَيْهِ أَحَدٌ
حِلٌّ :

No one will have control over him… even Allah.
6. يَقُولُ أَهْلَكْتُ مَالًا لُبَدًا
“He says I have destroyed / completely wrecked enormous amount of wealth”
means of which arrogance is illustrated
I don’t even care what I do with my money
I don’t have anything left (for needy, orphans, good cause, fundraiser)
(Abul Asht saying I have the most in opposition of Muhammad.s so you should consider me the leader)
7. أَيَحْسَبُ أَنْ لَمْ يَرَهُ أَحَدٌ
“Does he assume that no one ever saw him”
How you acquired your wealth
No one will have control over him… even Allah.
6. يَقُولُ أَهْلَكْتُ مَالًا لُبَدًا
“He says I have destroyed / completely wrecked enormous amount of wealth”
means of which arrogance is illustrated
I don’t even care what I do with my money
I don’t have anything left (for needy, orphans, good cause, fundraiser)
(Abul Asht saying I have the most in opposition of Muhammad.s so you should consider me the leader)
7. أَيَحْسَبُ أَنْ لَمْ يَرَهُ أَحَدٌ
“Does he assume that no one ever saw him”

8. أَلَمْ نَجْعَلْ لَهُ عَيْنَيْنِ
“Didn’t we give him eyes”
The one who gave you the ability to see, don’t you think he saw you
9. وَلِسَانًا وَشَفَتَيْنِ
“Didn’t we give him eyes”
The one who gave you the ability to see, don’t you think he saw you
9. وَلِسَانًا وَشَفَتَيْنِ
“And a tongue
and two lips to hold the tongue inside”
10. وَهَدَيْنَاهُ النَّجْدَيْنِ
“And we guided him to two elevated paths”
paths that lead to elevation, paths that are heading up mountains
Najad: النَّجْدَيْنِ : a wide path that is clear of cultivation that is heading up mountains
(involves labour anyway)
-- > this is the path of good and evil
-- > we guided him ALONG two paths
-- > One path easy in beginning and one is hard in the beginning
One is hard at the end and one is easy at the end
and two lips to hold the tongue inside”
10. وَهَدَيْنَاهُ النَّجْدَيْنِ
“And we guided him to two elevated paths”
paths that lead to elevation, paths that are heading up mountains
Najad: النَّجْدَيْنِ : a wide path that is clear of cultivation that is heading up mountains
(involves labour anyway)

-- > One path easy in beginning and one is hard in the beginning
One is hard at the end and one is easy at the end
11. فَلَا اقْتَحَمَ الْعَقَبَةَ
“Then he didn’t jump right into and get involved in
Al-Aqabah.
الْعَقَبَةَ: a path that is very difficult to climb
Why didn’t he just go up the tougher path (Al-Aqabah )
12. وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا الْعَقَبَةُ
الْعَقَبَةَ: a path that is very difficult to climb
Why didn’t he just go up the tougher path (Al-Aqabah )
12. وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا الْعَقَبَةُ
“What would give you any clue what is Al-Aqabah ”
13. فَكُّ رَقَبَةٍ

“Rescuing someone from slavery.”
Free yourself from the slavery of sins by making Tauba.
فَكُّ : committed to that act of freeing the slave
14. أَوْ إِطْعَامٌ فِي يَوْمٍ ذِي مَسْغَبَةٍ
“Or you are committed to the act of feeding in a day that is possessed by overwhelming hunger especially in bad economic times”
15. يَتِيمًا ذَا مَقْرَبَةٍ
“Feeding the orphan that possesses closeness”
The one who is close relative or close proximity
16. أَوْ مِسْكِينًا ذَا مَتْرَبَةٍ
“Or the needy/ barely surviving person that is associated possessing dust”
-- > he is homeless; going around in search of food; his bed is covered in dust
17. ثُمَّ كَانَ مِنَ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالصَّبْرِ وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالْمَرْحَمَةِ
“Therefore,
he became from those who had actually believed, he came to Iman and
then they enjoined each other, advise, motivate, encourage and counsel one another
with sabar- patience, consistency, constancy, commitment
they enjoined each other, advise, motivate, encourage and counsel one another
for the sake of universal mercy for everyone in everything.”
18. أُولَٰئِكَ أَصْحَابُ الْمَيْمَنَةِ
“Those are infact the people far to the right”
safe on the right path
19. وَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا بِآيَاتِنَا هُمْ أَصْحَابُ الْمَشْأَمَةِ
“Those who disbelieve in our miraculous signs/ revelation
Those are the people associated with the overwhelming curse/ left side”
Ayat of Allah -- > revelation
-- > creation
Free yourself from the slavery of sins by making Tauba.

“It is exclusively and especially upon them a fire that has been sealed up”
Isaad: مُؤْصَدَةٌ : completely covered, the heat doesn’t escape
