Surah Al-Falaq

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Tafseer of Surah 113 - Al-Falaq - Nouman Ali Khan
Al- mu’awizatain: Surah falaq and Surah naas
Whose protection are you seeking? Highlighted in Surah naas
What are you seeking protection from? Highlighted in Surah Falaq
-- > both revealed simultaneously (6 th or 7 th year after HIjra)
-- > Surah falaq deals with the evil of other things Allah created; no control over them
-- > Surah naas deals with something we have to answer for if we mess up (waswasa)
-- > Lubaid bin Asim (banu suraib) – sorcery, spell casting, hid it in Zu Arwan (well in madina), pressure and disturbance- messenger.s suffering, dream- 2 people, 11 knots were tied, recite the ayah and untie the knot

======THE ONE YOU ARE SEEKING PROTECTION ON (Musta'az bihi)====

1. قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ الْفَلَقِ

“Say: I am entering myself , I am giving myself into it”
أَعُوذُ : means to cling to someone for protection; hold on to someone and not let go of them out of the fear of something that is dangerous that is unseen
الْفَلَقِ : rip/tear something open so something else comes out; daybreak – morning comes out, seed – plant comes out,
(Qalaq) that which is created because everything is a result of something tear open, rain, plant, children, human beings, night,
He owns the creation of earth;
-- > practical manifestation of As’samad – the one someone turn to in desperation
الْفَلَقِ  “ ripping through or tearing through whatever problems you have; having openness, gave you relaxation
-- > call on the lord that creates the brightness of the day to remove all these elements of darkness that may be afflicted you
-- > door in hell fire that tears open and all fire literally breaks loose/ablazed , prison in hellfire, hellfire itself seeks refuge from الْفَلَقِ :- for people who engage in these acts, sorcery and jealousy, and act out on them, then their punishment is الْفَلَقِ
قُلْ : announce your weekness, act of humility, removes arrogance-istaghna, actively obeyed an order of Allah, referring directly to the messenger of Allah.s and by extention to us

======THE ONE YOU ARE SEEKING PROTECTION FROM (Musta'az minhum)====

2. مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ

شَرِّ :  opposite of Qair, that which will cause someone harm, lack of good,
مَا خَلَقَ : whatever He.swt created; Allah has power over it
We ask Allah. awj to protect us from the potential harmful elements of everything;

3. وَمِنْ شَرِّ غَاسِقٍ إِذَا وَقَبَ

Evil that take place in the night; from the evil of the dark night when it gets dark;
غَاسِقٍ : the first part of the night, black night, deep into the night, that which sinks or disappears, a time of night when it is completely and absolutely dark; full moon,
-- > not every dark night is evil
إِذَا : when
وَقَبَ : so dark that things become invisible,
-- > there are things hiding in the night that we cannot see ( shayateen, )

4. وَمِنْ شَرِّ النَّفَّاثَاتِ فِي الْعُقَدِ

Magic
النَّفَّاثَاتِ : feminine plural; nafs, groups; to blow with a little bit of spit coming out; the ones who blow over and over again engaging in the acts of trying to produce this magic
-- > every single one of them is evil
 فِي الْعُقَدِ : in knots

5. وَمِنْ شَرِّ حَاسِدٍ إِذَا حَسَدَ

Dark emotion- jealousy; from the evil of anyone who engages in the act of حَسَدَ
jealousy against the messenger of Allah.s, enemies of muslim, also started inside the house
feel jealousy
-- > the power of evil eye
حَاسِدٍ : the one who is jealous of you
إِذَا : when (its bound to happen)
 حَسَدَ : he acts out his jealousy (actually taking place)

-- > This surah is about protecting yourself from physical kinds of harm that may affict you and the next surah will be about the spiritual harm that can afflict you
(May Allah protect us all)

-- > The two cases where jealousy is allowed: A man who Allah has given wealth and he destroys it/spends for the sake of Allah, spending in the path of truth
& have knowledge and live/act/judge by it, he teach the people with it
